Caves with History

The Sandó Caves are a jewel that belonged to the Spanish inquisition.

The basement of the historic center of Madrid is a network of passages and caves. Over time many of those secret places buried their stories forever.

The caves were discovered accidentally in the remodeling of the Hotel Santo Domingo Madrid. They are dating from the sixteenth century and belonged to the Inquisition.

Enabling work Sando Caves respected his originall construction and walled galleries by which, they say, continuing a whole network of tunnels that reach the Royal Palace.
